Code of Conduct
Last updated: 2025-06-09
The DEF CON 908 Group provides a forum for open discussion between participants, where diverse viewpoints are welcome and a high degree of skepticism is expected. DEF CON 908 is a safe and productive environment for everyone. It’s not about what you look like, but what’s in your mind and how you present yourself that counts.
We don't do crimes. We don't teach people to commit crimes, we won't help you to commit crimes, and we will not point you in the direction of anyone who would.
We prohibit harassment, intimidation, stalking, and abuse against anyone participating in DEF CON 908 for any reason, or any such behavior that deliberately makes attendees feel unwelcome or afraid. You may not engage in any form of harassing, offensive, discriminatory, or threatening speech or behavior, including (but not limited to) relating to race, gender, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or other protected category.
Anyone in attendance, whether virtual or physical, who is asked to stop any violation of this Code of Conduct is expected to comply immediately. DEF CON 908 Organizers reserve the right to respond to violations in the manner they deem appropriate, including (but not limited to) removal from DEF CON 908 events and Discord, banning from future events, and referral to the relevant authorities and law enforcement.
Anyone can report a violation of this Code of Conduct. Whether you are at an in-person DEF CON 908 event, on Discord, or any other venue, and you are being the subject of the violation, notice that someone else is being targeted, or have any other concerns, you can let us know by contacting any DEF CON 908 Organizer (listed below). You can file a report by contacting coc@defcon908.org with a description of the violation. Specific details are helpful, such as the names of the individuals being targeted and carrying out such violations, as well as relevant times and dates. You may be asked follow-up questions in order for Organizers to take appropriate action. Your information will not be disclosed without your permission.
As all DEF CON Groups are what the community makes of it, this Code of Conduct applies to everyone participating at DEF CON 908, including Organizers, attendees, speakers, and volunteers.
